On Friday night, we held the reception at the country club, and had a fantastic time getting reacquainted, smiling, hugging everyone, and reminiscing. It didn't take us long to forget it had been a long time since we were around each other. On Saturday, during the day, we visited, looked at our respective annuals, elementary school photos, 1960/1961 newspaper articles, and relived old times. People helped decorate the ballroom with balloons, streamers, and candles for our Saturday night dinner/dance. At the dinner, our emcees were Sarah Curry, '60, and Mike Plumlee, '61. Our program included Mary Ann McAnally, '60, singing 'Crazy', and Sandi Taylor Black, '60, singing a medley of songs from our era. We handed out awards, remembered those who have left us too soon, and sang the school song. It was a very moving moment. A special time for us were the tributes written by James 'Jeep' Smith and Bob Marshall. Jeep's tribute was in remembrance of Coach Wells, and Bob's tribute was in remembrance of Coach Tasker. A plaque inscribed with the tribute was presented to a member of Coach Wells' and Coach Tasker's family. Our special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Payton, Ms. Helen Shipp, Mrs. Gene Wells, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay McPherson. After the program, we danced to the fabulous music of the '50s. There were 208 who attended the dinner to help celebrate our 39th and 40th reunion. It was wonderful to hear so many talking about coming back to the next one as we were leaving. We all left with new memories, and a wonderful remembrance of Hobbs High.

It's amazing all the careers that our classmates have (and had ~ it's also amazing how many are retired!). We even have great-grandparents among our members!
